Sunday Night Wine up is a 2017 Pope Valley Winery Cabernet Sauvignon that won a gold medal from 2020 Critic's Challenge wine competition. We liked the big dark cherry flavors with a hint of dark chocolate. The wine had a long finish given the big Napa structure and balanced acidity.
Pope Valley is near Howell Mountain. The vineyard has a warm growing climate with cool evenings and mornings which allow the grapes to hang on the vine long enough to ripen to their fullest potential yet cool enough at night to develop complex varietal aromas.
