Sunday Night Wine Up is a 2019 Pelaverga Basadone from Castello di Verduno located in Italy. An organic wine that was a bit hazy ruby red. Cherries and red fruit.  Color is pretty pale garnet color, dry, medium alcohol, high acidity, medium tannins and alcohol, pronounced flavour intensity, with very long finish.  Paired with roasted lamb. Found it at Vine and Bine.

 

 

REGION:  Piedmont

 

VARIETAL:  100% Pelaverga Piccolo

 

VINEYARD:  Sourced from vineyards in the Massara and Olmo crus, in the commune of Verduno.

 

SOIL:  The white soil is full of limestone and clay.

 

VINIFICATION:  Fermented in stainless steel for about ten days with periodic punching down of the cap.

 

AGING:  Aged for nine months in stainless steel followed by three months in the bottle before release.
